Tennessee 2003

While in Chattanooga, we stayed at the Raccoon Mountain RV Campground for a short three days. Good campground, nice scenery. We had the opportunity to see the Chattanooga sights: Point Park on Lookout Mountain with its monuments, views of the Tennessee River, Civil War Cannon, plus a visit with family, and a couple of shipmates from my Navy days when stationed on Okinawa, some 41 years ago. We departed for New Orleans, Louisiana on 5 December.
We were running low on diesel fuel and could not find a station that advertised diesel fuel; like they do back home. Getting desperate, we flagged down a diesel pick-up truck driver in a mall parking lot and asked where we could get diesel. He said that in Chattanooga stations that sold diesel were few and far between. He directed us to a station not to far from the mall where we found a diesel pump in the corner of the station; Diesel was not advertised on the price billboard. Driving around Chattanooga, we soon discovered that a few stations did have diesel, but you had to look for the pump, not the sign. Strange!
