June 2003

Something very interesting happened to me while shopping for a truck. I walked into a local Dodge dealer's showroom one morning to look for a truck. I knew what I wanted. There were no customers in the showroom, only three salesmen drinking coffee and reading their papers. I waited about five minutes and when no one acknowledged my presence, I walked out! Somewhat perplexed as to why no one wanted to sell me a vehicle, I went home and naturally fired off an e-mail to the dealer. The next day I got an apology from the dealer, well, sort of. It was a terse "Sorry 'bout that". Exercising my consumer rights, I took my check book to a dealer in Dundalk, Maryland which is three time as far from my home as the dealer who snubbed me. Stan at Thompson Dodge  welcomed me with open arms and had no problem accepting my money. Stan pointed out to me that because of my disability, Chrysler would pay half of the cost of a running board with a doctor's certification that it was necessary. I could not get into the truck with out a running board. Chrysler sent me a check for $400! On 22 June I drove the new Dodge home. Patricia thinks it's a monster truck!

We take delivery of the RV in July and take our maiden trip.
